Application:

Valve Seat Inlet CH12581 is press-fitted into the cylinder head of Perkins 1106C/1106D 6-cylinder 6.0 L diesels and earlier 1006.6 and T4.236/AT4.236 4.0 L turbocharged engines that power JCB 3CX/4CX back-hoe loaders, JCB 535-95/540-170 telescopic handlers, Manitou MLT 1440 telehandlers, Terex TLB 840, Massey Ferguson 6465/6470/7480 tractors, McCormick MTX/MCX range, Landini Legend and Atlantis models plus 120–400 kVA generator sets and compact wheel loaders. Because the 38 mm OD, 7° 45′ external taper and 1.6 mm interference fit are dimensionally identical to legacy 4.236 heads, the same CH12581 insert covers forty years of 4- and 6-cylinder Perkins production, giving one service solution for vintage combines, forklifts and irrigation pumps still operating worldwide.


Technical specifications:

Overall diameter 38.0 mm, seat width 2.0 mm, seat angle 45°, counter-bore 32 mm, depth 8.5 mm, interference 0.05–0.08 mm on 38 mm head pocket. The insert is machined from centrifugally-cast low-carbon Cr-Mo-V alloyed iron (Hardness 350–400 HB) with 0.6 % free graphite for self-lubrication and a 0.3 mm radial oil groove that aligns with the head oil gallery, ensuring positive splash lubrication to the valve stem and reducing the risk of micro-welding during cold start.


Material & performance features:

The alloy matrix retains 90 % of its yield strength at 820 °C, so the seat survives continuous exhaust peaks during DPF regeneration without radial cracking. The 45° face is induction-hardened to 550 HB 1 mm deep, limiting valve recession to 0.025 mm per 1000 h in engines running high-biodiesel blends, while the graphite film cuts seating wear by 30 % compared with plain grey iron.
