Application:
T408507 is a steel-head engine valve released by Perkins for the 1206E-E70TA (6-cylinder) and 1206F-E70TTA industrial engines. It is installed in the cylinder heads of Caterpillar 320E, 323EL, 324E, 329E excavators, 924K-962K wheel loaders, 525D-555D skidders and FG Wilson P550-P750 generator sets where it must survive continuous 2 800 rpm operation with cooled-EGR and high-boost turbo-charging.
Technical specifications:
Head Ø 41 mm, stem Ø 9.5 mm, overall length 202 mm, seat angle 45°, margin 1.2 mm. Stem is flash-chrome plated 0.03 mm to give <0.4 µm Ra surface; tip is stellite-faced to 1 mm depth, hardness 55 HRC. Valve is balanced to 0.5 g mm for speeds up to 4 000 rpm. Temperature rating –30 °C to 480 °C; validated for 24 000 h at 220 bar peak cylinder pressure.
Material & performance features:
Head and stem are forged from 21-4N (Ni-Cr-Mn) austenitic stainless, solution-treated 1 150 °C and aged 750 °C for 30 HRC strength and 35 % elongation. Chrome layer reduces guide wear 40 %; stellite tip prevents recession when engines run ULSD or biodiesel blends up to B20.
