This hardened-steel bucket tappet is fitted to the Perkins 4.236, 4.248, 6.354, 1004-4, 1004-42, 1006-6 and 1006-60T naturally-aspirated and turbo-charged engines, which means it is found in Massey Ferguson 165-399 tractors, 30-50 back-hoe loaders, 550-890 combines, Landini 7860-8880 row-crop tractors, JCB 3CX/4CX back-hoes, Claas 65-75 forage harvesters, New Holland 1116 swathers, 1495/1496 mower-conditioners, Volvo BM 2200 forklifts, FG-Wilson P100-4 & P135-4 generator sets and a wide spread of irrigation, construction and marine auxiliaries that use the above engine families world-wide.

Technical specifications:

The tappet body is machined from 16MnCr5 case-hardening steel to an outside diameter of 30.0 mm, overall height 25.0 mm and stem bore 8.9 mm; the contact face is induction-hardened to 58-62 HRC to resist pitting under 120 000 kPa cam contact stress. Running clearance in the guide is 0.04-0.06 mm, giving quiet operation at 2 200 rpm and 120 °C oil temperature. Weight is 145 g and the part is supplied with protective oil film ready for installation.

Material & performance features:

The crown is deep-case-hardened to a 1.0 mm effective case depth, providing a fatigue limit of 850 MPa after 5 million lift cycles; the underside is precision-ground to 0.4 µm flatness to guarantee uniform oil film and prevent cam lobe scuffing. A manganese-phosphate coating gives 96 h salt-spray resistance and aids initial running-in.
