Summary
Perkins multi-vee belts, also known as poly-vee, multi-rib or serpentine belts, are designed to prevent slippage and alignment problems. More often found on newer engines, as the wider belt can be put under greater tension without stretching. The higher tension reduces slip, which increases belt life and mechanical efficiency. When replacing fan belts check the belt tension is correct, together with the battery and all the electrical connectors.
