Technical specifications:

The guide is machined from centrifugally cast pearlitic cast-iron to an outside diameter of 15.9 mm, inside diameter 9.52 mm and an overall length of 61 mm; the bore is micro-honed to Ra 0.4 µm to give the valve stem a consistent 0.04-0.06 mm running clearance that prevents side-thrust wear while still allowing adequate oil film for cooling.

Material & performance features:

The iron matrix is alloyed with 0.7 % Cr and 0.3 % Mo to raise thermal conductivity and creep resistance, then salt-bath nitrided to give a 0.02 mm compound layer > 650 HV that resists scuffing and micro-welding when exhaust gas temperature exceeds 650 °C; the outside diameter is finished to h6 tolerance so the guide can be press-fitted into the cylinder head without additional reaming, while the chamfered bottom lip aids assembly and prevents bore distortion.
