Application:

T400216 is the exhaust valve seat insert fitted to Perkins 1004-4, 1006-6, 1106C and 2506 series diesel engines. It is found in the aluminium cylinder heads of JCB 3CX/4CX back-hoe loaders, Claas Lexion 450-600 combines, Terex TA6 site dumpers, Manitou MLT 735 tele-handlers and FG Wilson P110-P165 open-frame generator sets where it must survive continuous full-load operation with high-boost turbocharging and cooled EGR.


Technical specifications:

The insert is a precision press-fit ring 42.0 mm OD × 34.0 mm ID × 7.5 mm thick. The 45° conical sealing face is finish-machined to 1.2 µm Ra and is positioned 0.05 mm proud of the fire-deck after installation. Interference fit is 0.08–0.10 mm at 20 °C, requiring a 7 kN press-in load; maximum allowable re-cut seat width is 2.2 mm.


Material & performance features:

The seat is manufactured from sinter-hardened chromium–molybdenum alloy cast iron (2.0 % Cr, 0.8 % Mo, 0.5 % V) giving a bulk hardness of 45–50 HRC and a case depth ≥1.5 mm. A controlled 2 % interconnected porosity retains oil during cold start, reducing valve micro-weld for the first 30 s, while the chromium-rich martensitic shell resists valve recession when engines are fuelled with ULSD, biodiesel blends up to B20 or high-aromatic winter grades.
