Application:

T401136 is an inlet (intake) valve for Perkins 1106 series 6-cylinder diesels (6.0 L) fitted to JCB 3CX/4CX back-hoe loaders, JCB 535/540 telescopic handlers, Manitou MT 1440 telehandlers, Terex TLB 840, Massey Ferguson 7480, McCormick MTX and Landini Legend tractors as well as 120–200 kVA generator sets and compact wheel loaders used in European and North-American rental fleets; the identical valve geometry is also retro-compatible with earlier Perkins 1006.6 engines, giving one part number coverage for more than twenty years of 6-cylinder production.

Technical specifications:

The valve is a one-piece forging in 21-4N (EV8) austenitic steel, head diameter 42.0 mm, stem diameter 8.0 mm, overall length 162 mm; the seat face is stellite-6 PTA-overlay 2.0 mm wide, ground to 45°, while the stem tip is induction-hardened to 52 HRC to 4 mm depth to resist rocker wear; a 1.0 mm wide chromium-plated band extends 25 mm below the lock groove to guide the valve in the Mn-Ni-Cr-alloy cast-iron guide, giving a running clearance of 0.04–0.07 mm when the engine is at 90 °C.

Material & performance features:

The 21-4N alloy maintains tensile strength above 620 MPa at 850 °C, so the valve survives continuous inlet temperatures of 300 °C and brief spikes above 450 °C during turbocharger surge without micro-welding to the seat; the stellite overlay reduces seat wear to less than 0.02 mm per 1000 h in engines running high-biodiesel blends, while the chromium-plated guide band cuts stem wear rates to 0.4 µm per 1000 h, doubling the traditional 6000 h overhaul interval to 12000 h in generator duty.
