Application:
This exhaust valve is engineered for Perkins 404D-22T, 404D-22TA and 404C-22T 4-cylinder turbo diesels (2.2 L) that power JCB 3CX/4CX back-hoe loaders, Case SR/L skid-steers, 45 kVA “Vista A” generator sets, Claas combine harvesters and MF 1700-series tractors. It is designed to survive 850 °C combustion temperature while keeping seat concentricity within 0.02 mm TIR, ensuring blow-by stays below 1 % after 12 000 h of cyclic load.
Technical specifications:
Overall length 99.5 mm, head diameter 33 mm, stem diameter 7 mm, seat face angle 45 °, margin thickness 2.2 mm, stem tip induction-hardened to 52 HRC. The valve is forged from 21-4N austenitic stainless steel, solution-treated at 1050 °C and age-hardened to 28 HRC at the head centre for creep resistance.
Material & performance features:
The 21-4N alloy contains 9 % Mn, 4 % Cr, 3 % Ni and 0.45 % C, providing continuous hot strength to 850 °C and resistance to lead/sulphur corrosion when low-grade fuels are used. Chrome plating reduces stem wear groove depth to <0.02 mm after 6 000 h, while the roll-burnished fillet delays thermal-fatigue cracking by 30 %.
