Application:
Valve Seat 1827121C1 is an intake seat that also carries the later Navistar number 1827121C2; it is specified for the DT466E, DT530E and 530E HEUI 12-valve inline-six families (8.7-litre) built from the late 1990s through to the early 2000s. These engines are widely used in International 4900, 8100, 9200 and 9400 series trucks, IC CE/RE school buses, medium-duty ambulances, fire-pump skids and numerous power-generation sets rated 180-275 hp, so the seat is found anywhere from urban delivery fleets to agricultural irrigation pumps and military logistic vehicles that must tolerate long periods of sustained full-load operation.
Technical specifications:
The seat is a 30-degree interference-type insert, 2.001 in (50.83 mm) outside diameter by 0.356 in (9.04 mm) installed depth; the bore tapers 1.870 in (47.50 mm) at the top and finishes 1.712 in (43.48 mm) straight, giving the correct 1.970 in (50.04 mm) valve-head contact diameter when used with the standard intake valve.
Material & performance features:
Cast from a low-alloy iron containing 0.70 % Cr and 0.25 % Mo for hot hardness, each seat is then plasma-nitrided to produce a 0.03 mm diffusion layer with surface hardness 68 HRc; this resists both radial hammering from today’s high-injection-pressure engines and the abrasive action of ultra-low-sulphur fuels.
