Application:

The intake valve 120166390 is engineered for Perkins 403C-15, 403C-17, 403D-15, 403D-15T, 403D-17, 404C-22, 404C-22T, 404D-22, 404D-22T and 404D-22TA diesel engines (2.2–2.8 L), a family widely installed in compact agricultural tractors such as Massey Ferguson 1700 E-series, telescopic handlers, mobile generator sets and small industrial sweepers where emissions compliance to EU Stage IIIA / EPA Tier 4 final is required. In the field these engines are rated 26–50 kW at 2600–2800 min⁻¹, so the valve is aerodynamically profiled to maintain volumetric efficiency above 92 % across that speed band while keeping swirl intensity high for clean combustion.

Technical specifications:

Overall length 114.3 mm, head diameter 38.0 mm, stem diameter 8.0 mm, seat face angle 45°, margin thickness 2.4 mm, stem tip hardness 52 HRC after induction hardening. The valve is manufactured to ISO 683-17 class 21-4N austenitic stainless steel, solution-treated at 1050 °C and age-hardened to 28 HRC head centre for creep resistance at 800 °C.

Material & performance features:

The 21-4N alloy contains 9 % Mn, 4 % Cr, 3 % Ni and 0.45 % C, providing continuous hot strength to 850 °C and resistance to lead and sulphur corrosion when low-grade fuels are used. Stellite-faced seat overlay (1.5 mm thick) is available on request for gaseous fuel or CNG conversions.
