Application:
This seal is installed on the inlet valve stem of Perkins 1004-4, 1004-4T, 1104C-44, 1104C-44T and 1104D-44T diesels (3.3–4.4 L) as well as the same-cylinder-count variants used in Massey Ferguson 3000/4000/6400 tractors, JCB 3054B/3056 Turbo back-hoes, Case IH CX/Maxxum MX and several 45–70 kVA generator sets. It locates in the cylinder-head guide and wipes a 9 mm stem, preventing excessive oil migration into the combustion chamber while still leaving the 0.02 mm oil film needed for valve survival at speeds up to 3 000 min⁻¹.

Overall height 14.1 mm, outer body 14.9 mm, inner lip 9.0 mm, valve-shaft diameter 9 mm, fit side intake. The structural cup is drawn from 0.8 mm low-carbon steel, zinc-nickel plated 8 µm for 720 h salt-spray protection; the sealing lip is FPM (fluoro-rubber) 70 Shore A, PTFE-coated 15 µm to reduce stick-slip.
Material & performance features:
The FKM compound resists swelling in 15 ppm sulphur diesel and retains elasticity after 1 000 h at 150 °C in ASTM #3 oil. A corrosion-resistant stainless-steel garter spring exerts 18 ± 1 N radial load, giving uniform contact pressure around the 9 mm stem and reducing wear groove depth to <0.02 mm after 6 000 h.
