Application:
T400744 is the current Perkins service number for the exhaust valve fitted to 6-cylinder 1506A-E87TAG, 1506D-E87TA and 1506D-E88TA diesel engines. These engines are used in FG-Wilson P165-5, P200-5 and P220-5 generator sets, JCB 457 ZX / 467 ZX wheeled loaders, Dressta TD-15R / TD-20R crawler dozers, Bomag BW226D-5 single-drum rollers and Atlas-Copco XAS 375 / XATS 400 portable compressors, covering 200-300 kW industrial, construction and power-generation equipment that must meet EU Stage IV / EPA Tier 4-F emission limits worldwide.

Valve-head Ø 42 mm, stem Ø 9 mm, overall length 158 mm, seat angle 30°; stem tip is induction-hardened to 52-58 HRC while the lower stem carries a 0.03-0.05 mm gas-nitrided layer giving > 850 HV surface hardness to resist scuffing during prolonged high-temperature exhaust pulses typical of the 1506D engine.
Material & performance features:
Hot-forged from 21-4N (5Cr21Mn9Ni4N) austenitic steel that retains 900 MPa tensile strength at 700 °C, the head is flash-chrome plated (≈3 µm) to cut friction and valve-guide wear while the nitride layer on the stem prevents micro-welding and maintains stable lash over thousands of hours in stop-start industrial service.
