Application:

The 2486A206 and 2486A219 oil coolers are successive-issue heat exchangers that bolt directly to the cylinder block of Perkins 4.236, T4.236 and AT4.236 turbo-charged four-cylinder diesel engines of 4.0 L displacement, assemblies that power Massey Ferguson 2600, 2700, 3600 and 6100 series tractors, MF 500, 700 and 800 range combines, Landini Rex and Legend tractors as well as JCB, Manitou and Caterpillar telehandlers and forklift trucks. They are also fitted to naturally-aspirated 4.236 derivatives and the later 4.248 family when those engines are installed in the same equipment lines, so the service envelope covers agricultural tractors, combine harvesters, forage harvesters, 40–110 kVA generator sets, mobile lighting towers and a wide variety of industrial machinery from the late 1980s through to the mid-2000s.

Technical specifications:

The cooler is a 9-plate, donut-style shell-and-tube heat exchanger that slides into the 98.48 mm counterbore in the cylinder block. Overall height including the sealing flange is 78 mm, overall shell diameter is 114 mm, and nine internally-louvered plates give an oil-side heat-transfer area of 342 cm². Rated heat-rejection capacity is 5.7 kW at 90 °C oil temperature and 75 °C coolant temperature under full-load conditions, while oil pressure drop is held below 0.35 bar at 80 °C. 

Material & performance features:

The plate pack is vacuum-brazed 304 stainless steel for maximum resistance to chloride attack from modern long-life coolants, while the outer shell is zinc-nickel passivated mild steel for corrosion resistance in high-humidity or agricultural chemical environments. Internal turbulator fins increase film coefficient by 12 % relative to plain-plate designs, ensuring rapid warm-up and stable oil temperature control.
