Application:
This insert is the intake (inlet) valve seat for Perkins 1004-4, 1006-6, 135TI and 1106 family diesel engines. It is installed in the cylinder head of JCB 3CX/4CX back-hoe loaders, Claas Lexion combines, Terex TA6 dumpers, Manitou MLT telehandlers and FG Wilson P110-P165 generator sets where it provides the sealing surface for the inlet valve under sustained high boost pressure and exhaust gas recirculation.
Technical specifications:
The seat is a press-fit ring 38 mm outside diameter, 32 mm inside diameter and 7 mm thick. A 45° conical sealing face is machined to a 1.2 Ra finish; the insert stands 0.05 mm proud of the aluminium head deck after installation to guarantee positive valve-to-seat contact. Interference fit is 0.07–0.09 mm at 20 °C and requires a 6 kN press load; service limit for re-cut width is 2.0 mm.
Material & performance features:
The seat is sinter-hardened alloy cast iron containing 2 % Cr, 0.8 % Mo and 0.5 % V for a matrix hardness of 45–50 HRC. A controlled 2 % porosity retains oil during cold start, reducing valve scuff for the first 30 s, while the chromium-rich martensitic shell withstands lead-free, high-aromatic and biodiesel fuels up to B20.
