Perkins 1004 Phaser, 1006 Phaser, and 6.354 series diesel engines (4-cylinder and 6-cylinder configurations) . This exhaust valve controls exhaust gas flow from the combustion chamber in moderate to heavy-duty diesel applications where exhaust gas temperatures exceed 700°C. Commonly deployed in Massey Ferguson 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 6000, and 8000 series tractors , Cater backhoes and telehandlers, JCB wheeled loaders and telescopic handlers (CX series, 407BZX, 410BZX) , and FG Wilson generator sets powered by Perkins Phaser engines. Manufactured from EN 59/SUH-4 chromium-nickel-silicon alloy steel providing exceptional resistance to high-temperature scaling and corrosion at continuous exhaust gas temperatures up to 750°C. The valve head undergoes solution treatment at 1,050-1,100°C followed by age-hardening to achieve 28-32 HRC hardness, maintaining structural integrity under severe thermal cycling.The stem receives gas nitriding treatment creating a 0.02-0.04 mm deep surface layer exceeding 750 HV hardness to resist scuffing during prolonged operation in dry or contaminated oil environments. The 45° seat angle is precision-machined to Ra 0.4-0.8 µm finish, ensuring positive sealing with the valve seat insert (typically 3314A009, 3314A051, or 3314A102) and preventing blow-by and compression loss. The tip is induction-hardened to 52-56 HRC to resist cupping under 900-1,100 N valve spring loads .
