Application:
This inlet (intake) valve is produced for the 1104A-44, 1104C-44, 1104C-E44, 1104D-44, 1104D-E44, 1104D-44T and 1104D-44TA family of 4.4 litre Perkins diesels; consequently it is installed in Massey Ferguson 5460, 5465, 6475, 6480 and 6490 tractors, 7270 and 7280 combines, Landini 7-8860 and 8-8860 row-crop tractors, JCB 530-70 Loadall telehandlers, 3CX and 4CX back-hoe loaders, Atlas-Copco XAS186 and Doosan G50W portable compressors, FG-Wilson P110-4 and P135-4 generator sets, the Perkins 4.4M marine propulsion/auxiliary package and a wide spread of Caterpillar C4.4 powered forklifts, mini-excavators and irrigation pumps used in agriculture, construction, materials handling, power generation and marine sectors worldwide.
Technical specifications:
The valve head is 46.5 mm in diameter, seat angle 45°, overall length 129 mm and stem diameter 9 mm; stem tip is induction-hardened to 52-58 HRC while the lower stem carries a gas-nitrided layer 0.03-0.05 mm thick giving a surface hardness > 850 HV to resist scuffing during long idle or low-speed, high-boost operation typical of modern turbo-charged 1104 engines; head and stem are CNC-finished to Ra 0.2 µm to guarantee positive sealing and uniform heat transfer every cycle.
Material & performance features:
Hot-forged from 21-4N (5Cr21Mn9Ni4N) austenitic steel that retains 900 MPa tensile strength at 700 °C, the head is flash-chrome plated (≈3 µm) to cut friction and valve-guide wear while the nitride layer on the stem prevents micro-welding and maintains stable lash over thousands of hours in stop-start field service; the tulip profile is swirl-polished to improve flow co-efficient and reduce pumping losses, giving cleaner combustion and lower fuel consumption across the 1104 engine map.
