Application:
This guide is machined for the inlet and exhaust valves of Perkins 2306, 2506 and 2806 series diesels – the 6-cylinder 4.0 L derivatives that share the same cylinder-head architecture as the earlier T4.236 and AT4.236 turbocharged family. You will find it pressed into the aluminium head on engines that power 75-400 kVA generator sets (FG Wilson P27-P55, Pramac GBW), high-horsepower agricultural tractors (Massey Ferguson 8200-series, Landini Legend 145), combine harvesters (MF IDEAL 40), mobile compressors and marine auxiliaries. The guide accepts both the inlet valve CH11021 and the exhaust valve CH11022, keeping stem-to-guide clearance within the 0.040-0.070 mm window required for long oil life and low blow-by on these long-stroke six-cylinders.
Technical specifications:
Inside diameter 8.00 +0.015/-0.000 mm, outside diameter 14.00 +0.075/+0.050 mm, overall length 60.0 mm, seat counter-bore depth 12.0 mm, stem-to-guide clearance 0.040-0.070 mm. The guide is produced from continuous-cast CuZn39Pb3 brass bar stock that gives 120 HB hardness and > 280 MPa yield strength at 250 °C.
Material & performance features:
The leaded brass alloy resists valve-stem micro-welding and galling in engines that run on low-sulphur diesel or high-biodiesel blends; an internal 0.5 × 45° chamfer at each end prevents stem scuffing during assembly. The guide is stress-relief annealed after machining to remove residual draw stress, then 100 % plug-gauged so stem clearance stays within the 40-70 µm band for the full 20 000 h overhaul interval typical of 400 kVA gensets.
