Application:

T400215 is the inlet (intake) valve seat insert specified for Perkins 2306TAG1/2/3, 2506 and 1106C industrial engines. It is pressed into the aluminium cylinder heads of FG Wilson P550-P750 generator sets, JCB 456ZX wheel loaders, Claas Lexion 600 combines, Manitou MLT-X 1040 tele-scopic handlers and numerous irrigation pumps where it must seal reliably under high boost pressure and cooled EGR.


Technical specifications:

The insert is a precision press-fit ring 42 mm OD × 34 mm ID × 7.5 mm thick. The 45° conical sealing face is finish-machined to 1.2 µm Ra and stands 0.05 mm proud of the fire-deck after installation. Interference fit is 0.08–0.10 mm at 20 °C, requiring a 7 kN press-in load; maximum allowable re-cut seat width is 2.2 mm. Operating temperature range –30 °C to 450 °C, validated for 24 000 h at 220 bar peak cylinder pressure.


Material & performance features:

Manufactured from sinter-hardened chromium–molybdenum alloy cast iron (2 % Cr, 0.8 % Mo, 0.5 % V) yielding 45–50 HRC bulk hardness and ≥1.5 mm case depth. A controlled 2 % interconnected porosity retains oil during cold start, reducing valve micro-weld for the first 30 s, while the chromium-rich martensitic shell resists valve recession when engines are fuelled with ULSD, biodiesel blends up to B20 or high-aromatic winter grades.
