Application:
T417885 is the inner valve spring used on the intake and exhaust valves of Perkins 1004-4, 1006-6, 135TI and 1106 family diesel engines. It is installed in the cylinder heads of JCB 3CX/4CX back-hoe loaders, Claas Lexion combines, Terex TA6 dumpers, Manitou MLT tele-handlers and FG Wilson P110-P165 generator sets where it works together with the outer spring T417880 to control valve motion under high boost and EGR conditions.
Technical specifications:
Free length 55 mm, installed length 37 mm, outer diameter 22 mm, wire diameter 3.2 mm. The spring delivers 95 N seat load at 37 mm and 220 N open load at 26 mm lift, giving a rate of 10 N/mm. Solid height is 24 mm with a safety margin of 0.4 mm to coil bind.
Material & performance features:
The wire is chrome-silicon alloy steel (SAE 9254) shot-peened to 0.18 mmA intensity and stress-relieved at 280 °C for 30 min to achieve 48–52 HRC surface hardness. A blue-oxide finish provides 96 h salt-spray protection per ASTM B117. The spring is preset to eliminate length relaxation during the first 50 h of operation, guaranteeing <1 % load loss over the 12 000 h engine overhaul interval.
