These engines are commonly used in Massey Ferguson 165-398 series tractors, MF 30-50 backhoe loaders, MF 550-890 combines, Landini 7860-8880 row-crop tractors, Claas 65-75 forage harvesters, JCB 3CX/4CX backhoes, New Holland 1116 swathers, 1495/1496 mower-conditioners, FG-Wilson P100-4 and P135-4 generator sets, and various irrigation, construction, and marine auxiliary equipment.

The valve seat is manufactured from high-quality alloy cast iron, ensuring excellent wear resistance and high-temperature performance. It undergoes advanced gas nitriding treatment to enhance surface hardness and durability. The induction-hardened stem tip (52-58 HRC) and gas-nitrided layer (0.03-0.05 mm thick) provide superior scuff resistance, crucial for the high-temperature exhaust pulses typical of turbocharged Perkins engines. The T407000 Intake Valve Seat is forged from 21-4N (5Cr21Mn9Ni4N) austenitic steel, which retains 900 MPa tensile strength at 700 °C. The head is flash-chrome plated (≈3 µm) to reduce friction and valve-guide wear. The nitride layer on the stem prevents micro-welding, ensuring stable lash over thousands of hours of stop-start field service. The tulip profile is swirl-polished to improve flow efficiency and reduce pumping losses, contributing to cleaner combustion and lower fuel consumption across the 4.236/6.354 engine map.
